Valuation case studies
Wales - Power of attorney
Instructions were received from a solicitor for a valuation of the contents of a property of a lady living alone with dementia for current market purposes. The solicitor was concerned about the numerous daily visits from a variety of organisations providing care and assistance to her elderly client, given her extensive collection of art and antiques and the clients failing capacity.
An inventory of the items of value was produced and approximately £30,000 of jewellery was identified and removed from the property for safe secure storage.

London - Probate valuation
The client had a large town house in Bristol with a considerable collection of antiques and fine art and a second property in London.
The London property was minimally furnished with a number of select portable items of value but, little overall volume. A telephone call was made to the solicitors administering the estate, the cost of hauliers coming to London for the purpose of removing these items was discussed, and it was agreed that we could remove the items there and then, fully insured, to save the estate significant costs.
