We provide a comprehensive range of valuation services for individuals, families and probate practitioners
To mis-quote Aldo Gucci, “Value is remembered long after the price is forgotten”. Every article we own has more than one value and some may be treasured more than others. There are certain times in life when it is necessary to assess the monetary value of our belongings. This may be to divide them on death or divorce, to calculate the right amount of inheritance or capital gains tax or to ascertain the correct level of cover for insurance purposes. An RICS Registered Chartered Arts and Antiques Surveyor is uniquely qualified to provide a valuation which can be relied upon for all these purposes. HMRC in particular will want to see that any values submitted to them have been provided by a ‘qualified independent valuer’ and are far less likely to question values where a RICS valuer is instructed.
Services
The majority of our instructions come from professional probate practitioners, many of whom have built a working relationship with Toby, some for more than two decades. Our business is here to assist your clients and we aim to provide a level of service and compassion that in many instances will turn what the family feared would be an intrusion, into a journey through the life of a loved one. We also provide valuations for other purposes including insurance, family division and matrimonial division.
About Us
Toby is the third generation in the family to pursue a career in the art and antiques industry and has a first class degree in Fine Arts Valuation. He was previously on the board of the RICS Art & Antiques Professional Group and is a trustee of the recently merged Friends of Bristol Museums, Galleries & Archives. We have a range of consultants with specialist areas of expertise who we can call upon when required.
Why RICS?
The art & antiques world is largely unregulated and therefore it is prudent to consider a number of factors before instructing a valuer. Toby Pinn Ltd is a firm regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). RICS places strict regulatory requirements on its registered valuers. Their monitoring of standards and a stringent code of conduct ensure that clients receive consistent and excellent service backed by an RICS approved professional indemnity insurance policy.
